The father of Michael Vick said the former quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons has learned much from his stint in prision and will learn from his mistakes, according to the Daily Press.

“You ever been locked up?” Michael Boddie asked a reporter. “You have a lot of time to reflect. Looks like he came through it in one piece. I think he’ll be a better man because of it.”

Through the years, Boddie has had his own run-ins with the law, including some drunken-driving charges and drug rehab. He said he knows firsthand what being locked up can do. Boddie said he and his son reconciled their troubled relationship while Vick was in prison through a series of letters between the two. He said he could see Vick’s mental state change in prison as his letters started off “more casual,” but they evolved into “love, your son. “I’m glad he’s home with his fiancee and his children,” Boddie said. “I know he’s paid the price for that (dogfighting). Now it’s time for him to move on.”

It looks like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. -TO
