Tiger Woods made it clear that you have to “respect the office” of the presidency when asked to defend his relationship with President Trump.
“Well, he’s the president of the United States. You have to respect the office,” Woods said after the final round of the Northern Trust when a reporter asked him what he would say to those who question Woods’ friendly relationship with Trump, ESPN reports. “No matter who is in the office, you may like, dislike personality or the politics, but we all must respect the office,” Woods continued.
Woods and Trump have played gold together and have been friends for years, even before he ever decided to make a run to be President. Woods told reporters, “I’ve known Donald for a number of years. We’ve played golf together. We’ve had dinner together.” “I’ve known him pre-presidency and obviously during his presidency,” Woods said. Trump got word of the praise and thanked Woods on Monday via Twitter. – TO
