Hall of Fame Minnesota Vikings quarterback Fran Tarkenton reiterated today that he doesn’t want to see Brett Favre wearing Vikings purple, calling it a “last-gasp solution” for the team that he thinks won’t work.
“I think for the Minnesota Vikings to entertain this is pretty ridiculous itself,” Tarkenton said this morning during an interview with KFAN-AM 1130 in the Twin Cities. “It’s a silver-bullet, last-gasp solution. They’ve done a wonderful job of building a football team. I think the ownership and the general manager, whoever it is, and the coaches — I don’t know any of those people, I know the owners — they’ve done a wonderful job. You’ve got really a good team they’re building there.”
Tarkenton’s comments earlier this week with an Atlanta radio station criticizing Favre’s play and attitude became an Internet sensation and sparked debate among fans around the country. “I think he damages his legacy tremendously in Green Bay,” if Favre signs with the Vikings, Tarkenton said today. Tarkenton also said Favre has been “disrespectful” to the Packers by the way he handled his retirement last summer and then came out of retirement. –Twin Cities.com
