Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has joined two golf clubs in her hometown of Birmingham, Ala. One is Shoal Creek, made famous when its founder, Hall Thompson, acknowledged in 1990 that the club discriminated against blacks. That led to quick reforms requiring clubs that host championships to have minority members. Ms. Rice, now a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution in California, is often mentioned, along with former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, as a possible first female member at Augusta National.— Wall Street Journal
