College Baserunner Distracted Pitcher As Teammate Stole Home

Florida and Auburn squared off in the pivotal Game 3 of the Gainesville Super Regional on Monday night. With a trip to the College World Series on the line, the Gators pulled all the stops. With runners on first and third with two outs in the fourth, Auburn pitcher Andrew Mitchell was focused on Nick Horvath at first base as the lead runner Blake Reese got a huge jump to steal home. After the replay, though, Mitchell’s hesitation made sense. Florida tricked the Auburn pitcher into allowing Reese’s steal by having Horvath intentionally fall after breaking to second. – TO
