Brett Favre remains retired — for now — despite reports that Minnesota Vikings coach Brad Childress planned to meet with him this week and try to talk him into coming to the team. Bus Cook, Favre’s agent, told ESPN’s Rachel Nichols and another reporter Thursday that Favre “is retired'” and he doesn’t know of any phone conversation or meeting with Childress. Thursday, Yahoo! Sports reported that Favre, 39, told Childress he will remain retired, according to a source close to the team. The Yahoo! report said that Favre told Childress of his decision in a phone call, and that he could “publicly explain his decision soon.” Cook said Thursday that he spoke to Favre, who never mentioned any telephone conversation with Childress. Cook also added that he knew of no plans for Favre to address the Vikings situation publicly, as suggested in the Yahoo! report. “Like anyone else, he could always change his mind in the future about retiring but I haven’t heard anything from him that that’s the case,” Cook said Thursday to reporters pursuing the Favre story.
